The 13th of August 2014 was the first time I got involved publicly in the WordPress community. The first ever post I put together was a review of the X theme on WP Mayor, and it can be found here.
I can’t believe that was three years ago. I still remember writing that post, the research I did for it; everything. And to think, I’ve since written and published a total of 149 articles for WP Mayor.
The time has just flown by. Although a lot has happened in this time, both from a personal and a professional aspect, I still remember every step we took to get here. When I say “we” I’m referring to myself and Jean Galea, ‘cos without him I wouldn’t be where I am today – that’s for sure.
I just want to take a moment to thank Jean and his wife Alyona for their support during this time. I’ve had many ups and downs, but I regret none of it. What I’ve learnt from these two has been priceless.
I also want to take a second to thank all the others who have helped me out in any way during this time. My family has been ever-present and my colleagues have been great to work and grow with. I’ve met many others from within the WordPress community, both online and in person, and I can only thank them for their help, support and feedback – it’s what brought me to where I am today.
In the past three years I have worked as a content contributor for WP Mayor, a support engineer for our plugins, a team lead for the company, and now as a project manager overlooking practically all aspects of the business. It’s been awesome to be able to learn along the way, and to be trusted to the extent that I’ve been.
We’re currently working on a new appointment bookings plugin that is planned to be released soon. This has been the biggest project of my career so far, and I wouldn’t change the experience for anything else. We’ve grown as a team together and developed new skills and ideas along the way that we hadn’t even considered before. We cannot wait to share it with the world.
I have a few posts planned that go into more detail about my work with WP Mayor as well as our plugins, so I just wanted this post to be a small token of appreciation from my end.
Thank you, once again, to all those who have supported me and helped me grow.
